Barn home needed! This cat has been evaluated for behavior and comfort level around humans and determined to be feral or semi-feral. Feral and semi-feral cats are fearful of humans and panic when confined, making placement into an indoor home stressful and upsetting for these individuals. They may have been outdoor cats in a previous home, strays who lived independently from humans, or some other history that makes close contact with humans troublesome. Rather, HSSC is pursuing an alternative outcome in which this cat can provide pest control for a barn, shed, shop, or something similar while a kind human provides shelter from harsh weather and a consistent source of food and water. With this arrangement, independent cats are able to live comfortably in a life that suits them, while community members can set aside their worries about pests! After an animal that is available for adoption has been met with, the animal’s name can be put on an application. Animals that are applied for must be adopted the same day or within 24 hours of the animal being placed on the adoption application. Exceptions will be made if any animal needs a medical procedure, but then will need to be adopted within 24 hours of being cleared from that procedure. HSSC reserves the right to accommodate alternate timelines for special needs/behavioral issue animals.
